Richard G. Butler, 70, of Ft. Pierce, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 9, 2016, at is home in Ft. Pierce.
He was born January 16, 1946, in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Beatrice (Charbeneau) Butler. He was a long time resident of Rochester,NY, prior to moving to Springfield,MA. He had been a resident of the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area until settling in Ft. Pierce in 2014. He held dual citizenship with Canada and the US.
He was a career military man, serving faithfully with the U.S. Air Force, from the Vietnam War and through the Gulf War. After retiring, he continued serving with the Air Force at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee,MA, in a civilian capacity.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Catherine M. Butler of Rochester,NY; sisters, Helene Amyotte of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, Paulette Pierce of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada and Aline Valade of Escondido, CA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Cecile Legult of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, Rita Lalonde of Rochester, NY, Irene Green of Massena, NY and Evelyn Brown of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Services will be held at a later date in Rochester, NY.
