Albert Burdge

On this day January 1, 2023 our beloved Albert passed peacefully into heaven. He was surrounded by those who loved him dearly.

Albert was born on November 12, 1921 to Bertha and Thomas Burdge. Born in Adrena, New Jersey. He graduated from Lakewood High School 1939. He joined the Air Force in 1940 and helped protect the Panama Canal during WWII. He then went to work for Southern Bell and retired in 1983.

As a young man Albert had an adventurous life. He spent summers as a caddie in his hometown of Adrena. At 16 Albert witnessed the infamous explosion of the Hindenburg. He climbed the fence and helped a photographer who was struggling to memorialize this event until the Marines chased them away. In the Army Air Corps he did his basic training at Fort Slocum, New York. Albert had an illustrious career going from Panama to Kansas supporting different bombing groups. Albert was also a Link Trainer which taught pilots how to utilize the instruments on the bombers.

Albert left two children and 6 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Constance (Connie Rider) Burdge and two brothers, Calvin and Enzel. He leaves behind his wife Sally (Bronson) Burdge.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 40, 810 US-1 N, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
