Albert Edward Lounds, Jr.

Albert Edward Lounds, Jr., 90, died November 30, 2007 in Fort Pierce, Florida.Born in Crescent City, Florida, Mr. Lounds was a resident of Fort Pierce for 46 years after moving from Winter Haven, Florida.A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lounds served in the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet aboard the SC-982 a 110-foot wooden submarine chaser. After an honorable discharge in 1945, Mr. Lounds became a lifelong agriculturalist and served as a production manager for several citrus companies including Alpat Grove Care, McClelland, Inc., DiGiorgio Groves and Pride Groves. He retired from the citrus industry in 1983 and established Lounds Nursery, Inc. a local wholesale plant nursery. Mr. Lounds was an avid craftsman who enjoyed building and refinishing wood furniture. He was a member of Orange Avenue Baptist Church.A loving husband and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, Mr. Lounds is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty F. Lounds; son and daughter-in-law Albert “Edward” Lounds, III and Amy; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Victor Beaty; grandchildren David Lounds and wife Kelly; Christopher Lounds; Bryan Beaty; Kathryn Beaty; and great-grandchildren Cody Lounds, Tori Lounds, Dakota Noll, Cheyenne Noll, and Lindsey Norris, all of Fort Pierce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Edward Lounds, Sr. and Lula Mae Hunter Lounds.Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5. A service will be Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. at Haisley Funeral Home.
