Alexander Verner Hoy

August 19, 1923 — July 2, 2009

Alexander “Andy” V. Hoy, 85, died peacefully on July 2, 2009 at St. Lucie Medical Center surrounded by family.

Mr. Hoy was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1960 coming from Miami, Florida.

Alexander was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, Fighter Pilot during WWII and the Korean War and a helicopter pilot. He was a salesman for Sexton Food and the owner of Rialto Restaurant & Bar for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Elks Club and VFW.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Hoy Trabulsy (Joe DeRoss) of Ft. Pierce, FL; brother, Alva Hoy of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Michael and Kristen Trabulsy both of Ft. Pierce, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Hoy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the CASTLE, 2967 W Midway Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981, or to the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, P. O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064.

Services: A private family service was held on July 3, 2009 at Haisley Funeral Home. An inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at a later date.
