Alicia Burns Driscoll, 74, of Ft. Pierce died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, July 25.
She was born in Port Jefferson, NY the youngest of five children of Leo and Anna Burns. She lived in Coram, NY until the age of 10 when the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. She attended the University of Florida where she met Paul J. Driscoll and they married in 1955. Alicia was a devoted wife of 54 years and a loving mother of five children and grandmother of six.
Her family was always the center of her life. A life-long Catholic, she also contributed her time and talents to St. Anastasia School and her parish, St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She volunteered for many years for the local Girl Scouts, serving in many capacities including troop leader and summer camp director. She happily embraced all of these roles and her energy, creativity, organizational skills and selfless devotion set an example for us all.
In addition to her husband Paul, Alicia is survived by her daughters Cecelia Muller (husband Eldon), Catherine Driscoll and Melanie Richmond, all of Orlando, FL, Karen Ghent (husband Richard) of Tampa, FL and her son Paul J. Driscoll, Jr. (wife Nancy) of Ft. Pierce as well as six grandchildren: Ashley Richmond, Brittany Richmond, Nathan Muller, Tanner Dieppa, David Driscoll, and Deanna Driscoll.
Services: Visitation will be held at Haisley Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. A reception celebrating her life with family and friends will be held at the Haisley Reception Center following the interment. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
