Alyce Wolfe Butler

May 11, 1950 — November 2, 2014

Alyce Wolfe Butler, 64, passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of Sunday, November 2, 2014. In her mother’s Fort Pierce, Florida, home she was surrounded by her mother, three children, two older sisters, brother and niece. Alyce was born on May 11, 1950, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Henry and Jeanne (Wilhelm) Wolfe.

Alyce was the center of our world – Lori Allison Wolfe (daughter), Kevin Michael Butler (son), Gregory Martin Butler, Jr. (son), Carmen Julia Ortega (daughter) and Noah Preston Butler Ortega (grandson).

Also surviving are:

• Jeanne Wolfe, mother
• Arlene Hoar (spouse, James), sister
• Anne Peirce (spouse, Marshall), sister
• Henry Wolfe III (spouse, Lois), brother
• Nieces-Mary Koyanagi, Susan Brennan, Kimberly Weaver, and Gretchen Peirce-Semsick, and their children
• Karen Bruntmyer (spouse, Harold), lifetime friends and chosen sister
• Linda Carrier (spouse, William), lifetime friends and chosen sister

Alyce was a long time resident of Hurst, Texas, where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in the early 1970s. Alyce was a graduate of North Pocono High School and Sacred Heart Hospital School of Practical Nursing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was a dedicated nurse at Hurst Family Medical Clinic and Lexington Place in Richland Hills, Texas. She touched the lives of so many. She loved and adored her family, friends and patients. She created several family groups where she held the honorable place of “mom” or “grandma” and was the glue holding them together (and truth be told, the one keeping us all in line).

She had a generous and caring soul and would think nothing of giving to others, and would give anyone anything they needed and she never considered the impact on herself. She was a child of God, a daughter, an aunt, a godmother, a grandmother a mentor, an advisor and a sassy little lady. She was an angel on earth and will now watch over us all.

Most importantly she was our beloved mother. She was the best mother and her children thank God for giving us to her, even if he called her home at a very young age. She taught us about tradition, thoughtfulness, and caring for others, selflessly (among so many other things). We may still be working on selflessly, but each day we find ways to honor her.

Those who had to the honor of knowing Alyce know her ultimate role and love was being a grandmother to her only grandson, Noah Preston. She leaves behind the very apple of her eye. Our world revolved around her, and her grandson was the center of her world. They shared a very special and close bond, and she loved and adored him like no other.

Alyce was cremated at Haisley Funeral Service in Fort Pierce, Florida, on November 6, 2014. She will be with family until traveling to her final resting place in the Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst, Pennsylvania, in the spring.
