Andrew Jackson Flowers, a resident of Vero Beach, Florida died unexpectedly on March 23, 2024, at age 74.
Andrew was born in Tampa, Florida on March 20th, 1950. After graduating from Robinson High School, he worked as a ship hull fabricator at the Port of Tampa. He was also a certified welder with the Boilermakers Union Local #433, conducting fabrication work at the phosphate mines in Mulberry, Florida. This work led to the family’s eventual relocation to Ft. Pierce, Florida in 1978, where he was hired to help build the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant. Once the plant was built, Florida Power and Light took notice of his strong work ethic and hired him on as a project manager within the organization. His projects consisted of shutdowns at the plant overseeing steam turbine overhauls and refueling of the reactors for 20 years. After retiring from FPL, he worked part time as a consultant.
Andrew is survived by his children Andrew James Flowers (Allison), Mark Flowers, Alicia King (Chris), and Brett Flowers (Monteen), siblings Mary Jackson, Elsie Gunn, Martha Ehrich, and Armand Flowers, and grandchildren Ansley, Ethan, Jillian, Rachel, Annelise, Aleena, Kylie, and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Evelyn Youmans Flowers Keppler, sisters Hattie Lambertson and Winnie Rollins, brother Henry Flowers, and the love of his life, Marie Teresa Flowers, whom he was married to for 38 years.
Andrew was a loving husband, devoted father, avid fishing and boating enthusiast, and automotive hobbyist. He was heavily involved in his children’s educational and sporting endeavors. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Haisley Funeral Home in Ft. Pierce, FL, followed by interment at Riverside Memorial Park.
