Ann Berger
Annabelle Berger, 91, of Ft. Pierce, formerly of Kingsford Heights, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 in Fort Pierce.
She was born on May 30, 1923 in Daggett, MI, daughter of the late Severt and Julia Hall. She attended Kingsford schools. After graduation she moved to Chicago and attended Business School. While there she reconnected with her hometown friend, Cliff Berger. Cliff and Ann were married on July 12, 1947 in Iron Mountain, MI. They spent 63 wonderful years together. In 1957 they purchased a grocery store in Kingsford Heights and expanded it into Berger’s Foodland. Together, Ann and Cliff operated the store for the next 20 years. Ann was a dedicated wife and mother to her husband and their four sons. Time with her family was the focus in her life. She enjoyed cooking and caring for them, camping and playing cards, and dancing with Cliff on the weekends. In their later years, Ann and Cliff divided their time between Rivers Bend Campground in Iron Mountain in the summer and their home in Fort Pierce, Florida in the winter.
Ann is survived by her sons; Gary (Christine) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Don (Rita) of Hancock, MI; Randy (Fern) of Aurora, CO, Dale (Linda) of Milwaukee; brothers, Glen Hall of Palm Harbor, FL, Roger Hall of Appleton, WI, and Jack Hall of Tuscon, AZ; 10 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff, brother, Oliver Hall and sisters, Laverne Hall and Dorothy Jacobi.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association chapter of your choice.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, from 12 noon until 1:00 pm at the Kingsford Funeral Home located at 1000 South Carpenter Ave in Kingsford, MI. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
