Arthur "Artie" Gorman, born on January 13, 1947, in New York, NY, left us peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Port St. Lucie, FL. Artie lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, marked by laughter, love, and devotion to those nearest to his heart.
As a concrete mason, Artie skillfully shaped his surroundings, leaving behind a legacy in the hearts of all who knew him. He also shared his industrious spirit while working at Wonder Bread, contributing to a community that cherished his dedication and warmth.
Artie proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1970, earning commendations that reflected his commitment during a pivotal time in history. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Fleet Marine Combat Operations Insignia, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, embodying the bravery and resilience we so admire.
Family was the cornerstone of Artie's life. He cherished every moment spent with Florence Maloney, his loving wife of almost 3 years and companion of more than 25 years. He was a devoted father to his daughters Jennifer Perrone and Dawn Fugazzi of Wilmington, NC as well as his stepchildren Michael Maloney (Lynn) of Rutherford, NJ, Christine Hau (Billy) of Vero Beach, FL, and Danielle Alba (Mike) of Poughkeepsie, NY. He also took immense joy in being a doting grandfather to his 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Anna Mallia and Arthur Gorman.
Artie's personality shone brightly, characterized by his infectious laughter and a knack for making others smile. He approached life with a joyful spirit, enjoying card games with friends, occasional trips to casinos, and the nostalgic melodies of 50's music that filled his home with warmth and happiness. His passion for collecting model cars was a reflection of his meticulous nature and childlike wonder.
While we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we also celebrate his full life and the countless memories he created with everyone around him. Artie's spirit will continue to live through the tales shared by his family and friends, providing comfort as they navigate their grief.
Artie's final resting place will be at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL, where family and friends will gather to honor him on December 2, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM.
Rest peacefully, Artie. Your laughter and love will resonate in our hearts forever, and your legacy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known you.
