Arthur H. Mccann

Arthur "Art" McCann , age 77 , died after a short battle with cancer on June 11, 2016, at home in Port St. Lucie, Fl.

Art is survived by his loving wife Barbara, of 55 years, his children, Kathleen Hayes, Linda Kibby and her spouse Amy Young, Art McCann, Jr. and his wife Angie McCann and Sandra Gramley. He also leaves his grandchildren Kayla Hayes, Rachel Hayes, Andrew McCann, Alex McCann, Maya Gramley and Jordan Gramley and his sisters-in-law Gail Fix and Elizabeth McCann and nieces Kathy Faulkner, Libby McCann, Donna Sheehan and his nephew Larry Fix. He was preceded in death by his brother William McCann and his parents. Art was born on August 27, 1938 in Kearny, New Jersey, to parents William and Kathryn McCann. He graduated from Kearny High School in 1957. He owned and operated Dee Insulation and Roofing Company in Kearny until in 1973, he and his family moved to Lake Placid, New York where he owned and operated Whiteface Campgrounds, a motel and campground. In 1984,he moved to New Jersey and accepted a position as a Director of Real Estate Construction for Verizon, where he retired in 2000.

He and his wife became snowbirds, spending winters in Florida and enjoying their home in Forked River, NJ where he enjoyed fishing in Barnegat Bay on his boat. In 2008 Art and Barbara moved to Port St Lucie and became permanent residents of Florida where they enjoyed many years with good friends and cruising.

He enjoyed fishing, cruising, bowling and was a great poker player. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind loving person with a quick wit. He was a loving father and was always a family man first. He was kind and never said no to anyone who needed help.

A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 AM on June 18th , at Haisley Funeral Home located at 3015 Okeechobee Rd, Fort Pierce with a reception to follow at same location. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Art’s life. The family would like to thank their many friends for their love and support, especially their children who stayed by his side till the end.
