Barbara Ellmers, 81, died February 12, 2007 in Fort Pierce, Florida.Mrs. Ellmers was born in Portland, Connecticut and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1986 coming from Durham, Connecticut.She was employed by the Connecticut State Police from 1948-1957 working in the communication division as a teletype and telephone operator and later in the accounting department leaving in 1957. She was a member of the St. Peter Ministry Center, U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club. She sang in the Oval Office at the White House on August 19, 1945 for the Thanksgiving for Victory Day of Prayer.Survivors include her husband, Herbert R. Ellmers of Ft. Pierce, FL; son & daughter-in-law, Kurt & Barbara Ellmers of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Courtney Ellmers and Kassiday Ellmers both of Ft.
