It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Barbara “Bobbi” Lynn Faitella (née Thomas), of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, who left this world on January 17, 2025, at the age of 70. Bobbi was born May 2, 1954, in Fort Pierce, Florida and was light to all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, teacher, and friend, and will be greatly missed.

A gifted educator, Bobbi dedicated 45 years of her life to teaching in the St Lucie County Public School District, specializing in working with students in the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) program. As a teacher, she touched countless lives and inspired her students and colleagues alike with her patience, creativity, and unwavering belief in every child’s potential.

Bobbi was a lifelong music lover and a talented musician. She played the bassoon, clarinet, guitar, handbells, and almost any other instrument she got her hands on. Bobbi was a cherished member of the Choir and Bell Choir at First Methodist Church in Ft. Pierce for many years. She found immense joy in singing and performing and her musical talents delighted to all who had the pleasure of hearing her play.

Beyond music, Bobbi’s passions included reading, cheering for the Miami Dolphins, and spending time with her beloved Golden Retrievers, who were her faithful companions throughout her life. She was a devoted fan of Willie Nelson, often finding solace and joy in his music. Bobbi’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and caring for others.

Bobbi is survived by her daughter Virginia “Ginny” Faitella, brother Jim Thomas (Nina), sister Pamela Thomas, nephew Jay Thomas, niece Susan Thomas (Jeff McElravy), great-nephew Jay McElravy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and James Thomas, and brother Tim Thomas.

A celebration of Bobbi’s life will be held at First Methodist Church, 515 Avenue A, Fort Pierce, Florida on Tuesday, January 28th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Dogs and Cats Forever or your local dog rescue, in honor of Bobbi’s lifelong devotion to caring for animals.
