Barbara Jeanne Hendershot

It is with sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Jeanne Hendershot, who went to be with her Sweetheart on January 3, 2025 at the age of 90. She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 27, 1934 to Fred and Lucille Blethen. 

She was the oldest of their 5 children. She was the loving wife of Ray O. Hendershot who predeceased her by 7 years. Together they raised a family of 9 children. She was a resident of St. Lucie County since 1958, when they moved their growing family here from South Florida. She served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in March of 1954. She had a love of singing, dancing, traveling, reading, writing, babies and generally just loving life and people. 

She is survived by 8 of her 9 children who include Shelly Hendershot Slade, Laurie Hendershot, Craig Hendershot (Coco), Holly Hendershot Conrad, Quinn Hendershot (Tracylynn), Jennifer Hendershot, Jason Hendershot (Jodi), Heather Hendershot Chinea (Carlos) and a neice, Amy Blethen, 22 Grand children and 34 Great Grand children. 

She was preceaded in death by her husband Ray O. Hendershot, her oldest son Byron Hendershot , great granddaughter Ashlynn Taylor, by her Mother and Father and 4 siblings (Margie, Pepper, Mitzi and Johnny). 

Her graveside service will be held at the White City Cemetery on Wednesday, January 8th at 2:00 p.m. Hers was a life well lived and she will be missed by all who enjoyed her friendly and loving ways.
