Barbara M. Guthrie, (nee White), 88 died in Fort Pierce, FL on February 18, 2007 after a long illness. Born in Schenectady, NY, she resided in Colonie, NY and started wintering in Fort Pierce in 1982, moving permanently to Fort Pierce in 1999. Pre-deceased by her husband, Sherman C. Guthrie after over 45 years of marriage. Survived by her sons John S. Guthrie, Fort Pierce; Clayton M. Guthrie (Vickie), Tucson, AZ; Duane J. Guthrie (Judy), Saratoga Springs, NY and by her best friend and ex-daughter-in-law, Laurel Gillespie (Rick) of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Keith M. Guthrie (Darlene) of Tucson; Barbara J. Guthrie, Attleboro, MA; Gale M. Kerr (David) of Hilliard, OH and James A. Guthrie (Jane) of Saratoga Springs, NY and by five great-grandchildren, Laurel, Brian and Rachel Guthrie of Tucson and Devyn and Reese Kerr of Hilliard. She will be sadly missed by a very exceptional friend and confidante, Ryan Smith of Verona, NY and by her extremely special and caring friends, Robert, Jacqueline and Robbie Marr of Schenectady, NY. She is also survived by her brother John O. White (Mary), and three nephews and a niece.Donations in remembrance of Barbara to the Manatee Observation & Education Center, 480 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950; Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, 5600 N,. U.S. Highway1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946; National Wildlife Foundation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190 or another wildlife organization of choice would have been greatly appreciated by her.
