Bennie Hendrix Maxfield
Bennie Hendrix Maxfield, 90, gained her wings peacefully on December 26, 2024 in Fort Pierce, Florida surrounded by family.
She was born on March 7, 1934 to Benjamin and Rosalie Condon in Ocala, Florida. She would spend her life in Florida, settling down in Ft. Pierce, where she would raise her four children.
Prior to retirement, Bennie worked for Bellsouth where she made lifelong friends along the way. She loved crafting, making beautiful ceramics, crocheting, and making beaded bracelets. She took great joy in making those bracelets, bringing them to family gatherings where the basket would be passed around, and everyone got to pick out a bracelet to match their outfit.
A devoted member of Community United Methodist Church, Bennie found great purpose in serving her church community. She loved volunteering at vacation Bible school over the summers, pancake dinners on Fat Tuesday, and leading the Woman’s group. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life.
She loved talking to people and had a story for every occasion. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel, murder mysteries, baseball and football, scrolling on Facebook to look at pictures of her children and grandchildren, playing words with friends, and decorating for every occasion and holiday.
More than anything, Bennie’s family was her pride and joy, and her favorite weekends were spent with family and friends, sharing her words of wisdom on the back porch, or from her favorite recliner chairs. She cherished every moment with her grand and great grandchildren, always ready with a big warm hug.
Bennie is survived by her daughter, Katie (Owen) James of Fort Pierce, FL; sons, Bobby (Dianne) Hendrix of Wellington, FL, Danny (Betsy) Hendrix of Atlanta, Georgia and Gene Hendrix of Fort Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Robbie (Erin) Hendrix, Emilie Hendrix, Lauren (Matt) Walker, John (Ally) Hendrix, Kirsten (Anthony) Marini, and John (Morgan) James, Hailey (Kenny) Hartley and Kirbey (Ryan) Hartley; great-grandchildren, Connor, Jack, Claire, Charles, Margot, Harper, Mia, Bella, and Emmy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Rosalie Condon, husbands, Bob Hendrix and Lou Maxfield, and sisters, Rubie and Rosie.
A Service will be held on January 11, 2025, at Community United Methodist Church 3114 Okeechobee Rd. Fort Pierce, FL at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of life will follow at 12A Buoy. 22 Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Mustard Seed or Community United Methodist Church.
