Bernice Palla, 74, passed away July 15, 2017 in Atlantis, Florida.
Bernice was born in Syracuse, New York and moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1982 and then to Port Saint Lucie in 1987.
Bernice worked in various accounting positions and most recently for over 20 years at the Saint Lucie Sheriff’s Office. Her greatest role is that of supportive, loving wife and constant companion to her husband Jim. One of her greatest joys in life was laughing at Jim’s corney jokes as though each joke was being heard for the first time, even though we all know it wasn’t. She loved and supported her children and grandchildren unconditionally. They all felt her love and support and could count on her in their time of need. Her children can attest that she had the patience of a saint and never raised her voice. Always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind, she was proud of her family beyond measure. Bernice will be remembered as a selfless, loving wife, mother and grandmother who aways had a smile on her face. She had a quiet strength and unwavering determination. As time passes, the strength of her memory will continue to grow in all those she has touched in her life.
She is survived by her husband, of 52 years, James W. Palla of Port St. Lucie, FL; her two children, daughter Jamie of Baltimore, MD and son Jeff of Denton, TX, daughter-in-law Monica of Denton, TX, five grandchildren, Julianna, Bennett, Riley, Niki and Patrick; three great grandchildren, Abbi, Leah and Julian; sister Phyllis of Albany, NY and loving niece Brenna of Los Angeles, CA. Bernice is preceded in her death by her parents Bernard and Filomenia Kapelewski of Syracuse, New York.
