Bessie Grim Picklesimer was born to parents, James Lewis Grim and George Ann Williams Grim June 30, 1916 at Nippa, Kentucky. Bessie was the youngest of ten children who have all predeceased her. She grew to be a dark haired smiling girl with flashing brown eyes and captured the heart of Estill Picklesimer of Volga, Kentucky. For over seventy years their devotion and respect for each other has awed and inspired everyone who has known them. Early in their marriage, they conceived a son, James Dalton Picklesimer who died a few days after birth. While Bessie and Estill never again had children of their own, they both took keen interest and participated in the lives of their many nieces and nephews as the children grew into adults. Bessie loved all her brothers and sisters and her in-laws and always extended a helping hand when she became aware of a need.
During World War II, while her husband served overseas, Bessie did her patriotic duty by winding armatures in a war plant on Wright Field in Osborn, Ohio. After the war, she enjoyed homemaking and loved cooking, entertaining and collecting antiques. Bessie had a natural talent for nursing and cared for her mother and many years later, for her brother, Bennie when each was confined and dying.
Bessie strongly supported the churches at which she worshipped. During the mid sixties, the Picklesimer’s moved to Fort Pierce, Florida and soon became very active in the Church of Christ. Their many friends from this church have supported both Picklesimer’s in their aging infirmities.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Treasure Coast Hospice or the Church of Christ are requested.
