Bessie Wickline Minton, 107, died December 26, 2009 in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Ms. Minton was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her family moved to Ocean City, FL in 1910 and was one of the pioneer families there. She then moved to Ft. Pierce in 1940 coming from Vero Beach, FL.
She was a member of the P.E.O., Order of the Eastern Star, the Flagler Beach Historical Society and was a founding member of First Baptist Church of Ft. Pierce.
Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Shirley Longino Minton and Mariel Colean Minton, both of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren, O.R. Minton, Jr., of Ft. Pierce, John L. Minton, Sr., of Vero Beach, Berryman T. Minton, of Ft. Pierce, Michael D. Minton, of Ft. Pierce, Edwin J. Minton, of Ft. Pierce, Susan Minton Plyler, of Greenville, SC and William H. Minton, of West Palm Beach; 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.C. Minton and sons, O.R. Minton and Edwin James Minton.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Indian River State College Foundation for a scholarship in memory of Bessie Wickline Minton.
Services: A visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2009 from 11:30-1:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A guest book may be signed at
