Betty Jean (Carrera) Hutchinson, a lifelong resident of Fort Pierce, was called home to heaven on March 16, 2025, at the age of 91. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and love for her family were at the center of her life.
For most of her adult life, Betty was a dedicated homemaker, caring for her family and creating a warm and loving home. She especially cherished the annual family reunions that brought everyone together. When her children were young, she loved camping trips that were filled with adventure and laughter. She also had a compassionate heart for animals, always rescuing a cat or dog in need, and she enjoyed playing cards with her dear friends.
For over 60 years, Betty and Josephine Blakeslee shared a cherished friendship built on laughter, unwavering support, and countless memories. Their bond was a testament to a lifetime of love and companionship.
Following the passing of her beloved husband, Don Hutchinson, Betty entered the workforce, taking on part-time roles at Denny’s Hair Styling and at St. Anastasia Catholic School. Through these roles, she formed lasting friendships and continued to touch the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.
She was one of ten siblings and is survived by her brother, Jack Carrera of Georgia; her sons, William Hutchinson of Fort Pierce, FL, and Richard Hutchinson of Vero Beach, FL; her daughter, Robyn Hutchinson of Fort Pierce, FL; and her cherished grandson, Christopher of Fort Pierce, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hutchinson, and eight of her siblings.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Treasure Coast Hospice.
Betty’s love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
