Betty Jane Owens, 83, of Fort Pierce, Florida passed away on August 17, 2021 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Betty was born on February 9, 1938 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Walter S. and Leona (Maddox) Jones. Betty grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Holt High School in Tuscaloosa. She married Roscoe L. Owens on February 25, 1997 in Vero Beach, Florida.
Betty happily served as a board member for Parkview Baptist Church, White City Cemetery, and Abbijean Russell Care Center for her Fort Pierce community. Betty was a devoted member of Riverview Baptist Church. Betty and Roscoe were long time volunteers for The Crossing Thrift Store in Fort Pierce. She was known for her hard work and used her well-known work ethic to assist in raising tens of thousands of dollars for her church community. She retired as an electrical harness technician for Piper Aircraft.
Survivors include children, Gay Harris Doyle, Robert “Bob” Eugene Harris, and Kenneth O. Harris all of Fort Pierce, FL; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; as well as brother, Larry Michael Jones of Tuscaloosa, AL. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roscoe L. Owens; son, William Gregory Harris; parents, Leona Maddox and Walter Snow Jones; siblings, Willie Glenn Jones, Mary Snow Jones, and Nancy Alma Jones.
