Bonnie C. Hughes, 93, of Fort Pierce, Florida passed away peacefully May 20, 2022.
Bonnie was born in Ravenden, Arkansas to Leonard and Opal (Watts) Lawrence on March 20, 1929. She grew up in Ravenden and later moved to Michigan to raise her 6 boys. Bonnie's husband (JW Hughes) worked for General Motors for 30 years while Bonnie took care of the kids. Bonnie and JW moved back to Arkansas in the early 80's after JW retired from GM.
Retirement was great for them at Cherokee Village until 1999 when they officially moved to Fort Pierce, Florida. Bonnie spent another 23 years of retirement in Florida with many years of pleasurable times at Gator Trace Country Club.
Bonnie was a woman with a strong faith and was a well-loved member of the Church of Christ. She loved reading her Bible and spending quality, quiet time with the Lord. She also enjoyed music (especially Merle Haggard) and playing her guitar when she could. Most of all she loved to Visit, Call, and Facebook time her Family and Friends and keep them up to date on all the political issues.
Survivors include her loving sons, Ron (Linda) Hughes of Hadley, MI, Mike (Terry) Hughes of Yukon, OK, Dennis (Sherry) Hughes of Hadley, MI, Lantie (Cynthia) Hughes of Fort Pierce, FL, and Wade (Angel) Hughes of Sedalia, MO. She will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her beloved husband, James Hughes and son, Wendell Hughes.
A visitation will be held on May 26, 2022 from 11AM to 1PM with a service to start at 1PM at the Ravenden Church of Christ, Ravenden, Arkansas, 72459. She will be laid to rest following the service at Opposition Cemetery.
