Britney Lee Poindexter, aged 17, died in a tragic car accident on February 6, 2018. Britney was a joyful, adventurous and loving girl who touched a special place in everyone she met. Her brothers called her Spaz; she was an avid horse rider; she could be found in the dark of night on the golf cart looking for hogs with her Dad or shopping for sparkly clothes with her Mom; she was a special part of the lives of so many people from babies to little kids to her friends and family. She was so full of life and beautiful inside and out.
Britney is survived by her parents Yvonne (McKenna) Poindexter and Todd Poindexter for whom she was the light of their lives, her two brothers Todd Poindexter and Tyler Poindexter, her grandmother Hyacinth McKenna, her grandfather Lawrence R. Poindexter, 16 aunts and uncles, and 34 great aunts and great uncles. Britney has a huge extended family with 17 first cousins, 53 second cousins and 111 third cousins. In addition to her many relatives, she had an amazing family of friends in Florida, including Mason Connelly and Mikey Parlin who were like her brothers.
Britney is predeceased by her grandfather James McKenna and her aunt Amanda Hill.
Britney attended Fort Pierce Central High School as a junior and was an avid member of St. Lucie County 4H, enjoyed riding ATVs, the golf cart (an “extreme” sport), the swamp buggy, helping her Dad take care of the horses and ducks and just hanging out with her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cares Foundation in honor of a little boy with a special place in Britney’s heart, 2414 Morris Avenue, Suite 110, Union, NJ 07083.
