Bruce E. Byrer, 77, of Ft. Pierce, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the Lawnwood Medical Center, Ft. Pierce.
He was born August 4, 1940, in Bicknell, IN, the son of the late Eldon and Ethel (Chambers) Byrer. He was a graduate of Bicknell High School, Class on 1958, and was a lifelong resident of Bicknell, until moving to Ft. Pierce in 2014.
Mr. Byrer served as an Airman in the Air Force at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, New York. He was an airplane mechanic and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Byrer was self employed as a carpenter.
He was a member and past president of the French Club and an avid golfer being a lifelong member of the Bicknell Country Club. He loved motorcycles and gardening and was well known for his mushroom hunting abilities.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Butler) Byrer of Ft. Pierce; daughters, Tracy Phillips of Ft. Pierce and Leanne Snapp and her husband, Brad, of Owensboro, KY; grandchildren, Jackie Byrer of Ft. Pierce, Angela Nikki Novak and husband Nicholas of Vero Beach, Katrina Smith and husband Steven of Vero Beach and Ryan Snapp of Tallahassee; great grandchildren, Emma White of Ft. Pierce and Sawyer Novak of Vero Beach; brothers, Gary Byrer and Bill T. Byrer both of Bicknell, IN; sisters, Jane Ann Arnold and Luellen Miller both of Bicknell, Sara Beth Heller of Vincennes, IN, and Missy Maddox of Oaktown, IN; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
