Bryant Fisher was born in Fort Pierce, Florida to Robert George Fisher (deceased) and Janice Vessell Fisher. He was a sweet and mischievous child - funny, charming, and clever from a young age. He was always on the move with his older brother, Martin, while teaching the tricks of the trade to his little sister, Rachel. He had very old-school parents, so one of his favorite childhood songs was “Shake the Devil Off.” He took this message to heart and requested baptism at 6 years of age by Reverend Bentley of Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church.
His love of music was evident, and his varied artistic talents developed early. Bryant played guitar at church, danced, sang, rapped, drew, and did the best impersonations. In class and at home, he drew the people around him in either an anime or Family Guy-like style. On occasions his renderings of teachers were intercepted, but thankfully the drawings were tasteful enough to keep him out of trouble. Bryant sang at school talent shows, and around the house when he couldn’t get a tune out of his head. When in the company of his good friends, he would freestyle rap and dance at parties. While at home, he would sing and dance to Barry White with his grandmother.
Growing up, Bryant loved all things anime, gaming, and sports. Some of his favorite anime shows were Naruto, Hinomaruzumou, and Yakusoku No Neverland. He would play Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon cards with Martin, and attempted to teach a much younger Rachel. They would also play video games like Mario Kart, Dragon Ball Z, and Mortal Kombat. Later, he even collected retro video game consoles. On breaks from video gaming, the siblings attended local wrestling matches with their dad, making championship wrestling belts from cardboard when they got home. Bryant was also an avid Miami Heat and Dolphins fan.
Quite an athlete himself, Bryant played games with neighborhood friends, fished with his dad, and once caught a baby alligator to his mother’s horror (that he released of course!). He loved running races in elementary school, playing basketball in middle school, and playing football for the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguars. After his graduation in 2010, he attended Florida International University (FIU) where he became a brother in the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, which afforded him the opportunity to coach powderpuff football with their sister sorority.
While at FIU, Bryant made many friends and connections through his fraternity, and followed his passion for social studies by majoring in Liberal Studies through the Law, Business, and Society Track. After graduating, he taught World History at the Creative Arts Academy of Saint Lucie (CAST). His love of history, his interactive teaching style, and his enthusiasm as assistant coach of the basketball team made him a favorite among coworkers and students alike. Ironically, not long after his teaching career began, Bryant found himself intercepting drawings that his students made of him!
Bryant’s passions grew with age. His international travels allowed him to meet new people and explore the history of each destination. He even followed his love of social sciences by attending law school. Most importantly, he grew closer to God. Bryant shared sermons and scriptures with his family, and these serve to comfort them as he passes into the presence of the Lord.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his mother, Janice Fisher; his siblings, Martin Fisher and Rachel Fisher; his grandmother, Bessie Vessell; and a host of loving family and friends.
Burial will take place in Galloway Family Cemetery, Canton, Mississippi.
