Byron S. Harris, Sr., 81, died December 17, 2005 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Ft. Pierce, FL.Mr. Harris was born in Frederick County, Virginia on November 6, 1924 to William Penn & Annie Mae Miller.He graduated from Stephens City, Virginia High School (Class of 1941) and then attended Strayers Business College, Washington, D.C.He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in January 1942, where he attained the rank of Sergeant and served aboard the U.S.S. Houston in the South Pacific.On December 1, 1944 he married Martha Jane Martin in Frederick County, Virginia.After discharge from the Marine Corps in 1945 he served as the 1st policeman in Stephens City, Virginia. He was a Virginia State Police Trooper. He was a field adjuster for Nationwide Insurance Company and office manager of the Richmond, Virginia claims office for Nationwide.In 1964 he and Martha moved to Fort Pierce, Florida where he served as a U.S. Postal Clerk until retirement in 1986.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha J. Martin Harris of Ft. Pierce, FL; son & daughter-in-law, Bryon “Stan” Harris, Jr. & Jo Ann Harris of Tampa, FL; granddaughter & husband, Kimberly Ann & Michael Layton of Fort Lauderdale, FL; granddaughter, Crystal Klein of Sarasota, FL; extended family, Patricia & Kirk Smith and Kevin McNeal all of St. Augustine, FL, Tina Robinette of Fort Lauderdale, FL and caregivers, Pamela Sweatt and Lisa Reinbold.He was preceded in death by his brother, William P.
