Byron was born in Ordway, Kentucky, and was a resident of Fort Pierce since 1981, coming from Alma, Michigan.
He was a heavy equipment operator in the citrus industry and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his sons, Benny Shepherd and Rickie Shepherd both of Fort Pierce, FL and Randy Shepherd of Alma, MI; sister, Barbara Wireman of Crystal Lake, MI; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
