Candace M. Moreland

October 6, 1980 — December 16, 2017

Candace M. Moreland, 37, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away December 16, 2017 in Lake Worth, Florida.

Candace moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida in 2008, coming from Seattle, Washington. In 2013, she moved to Boca Raton, Florida.

Candace was born on October 6, 1980 in New Haven Connecticut. She is survived by one brother, Charles III. She enjoyed playing t-ball, softball and cheerleading during her youth. She loved NASCAR racing as does her family. The family attended 11 straight Daytona 500 races, camping out in the infield where we all have memories that will be cherished forever. Candace quit high school in the 12th grade but went to adult education and passed the test two years later for her full High School Diploma. A GED would not be good enough for her because she promised both of her parents that a college degree would be her next accomplishment.

Candace had a great love for grunge and alternative music which in turn made her heart yearn to move to Seattle where she would continue her promised advanced education. That dream became a reality in 2004 when she went off to Seattle with a new laptop. Sometimes dreams don’t always work out the way you dreamt them. On April Fool’s Day 2006 mom and dad got a call that changed Candace’s life. She was pregnant with the Love of her life, her son, Jasper. Candace was a mother that any child would love to have. If anyone messed with mama bird’s baby bird, you better watch out because those claws would come out and in the nicest way she would take you down like you were a house of cards. On the other hand she was very loving, generous, caring and protective of Jasper. Today there are truly “tears in heaven”; and on earth.

This single mother was a human rights activist, with a strong ambition when moved by her intuition with a deep thirst for justice. It was with this drive that she got her very first driver’s license at the age of 27. And just 60 days after moving to PSL she started at IRSC. In October of 2009 she was inducted into the “Phi Theta Kapa International Honor Society of the two year College.” While there, she also received the IRSC Student of the month award in January 2010. She graduated from there in May of 2010 with an A.A. with a concentration in Psychology. She received an Honors Certificate, Suma Cum Laude with a 3.9 grade avg. In May of 2012 she graduated from the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of FAU with a B.A. --majoring in Liberal Arts and Sciences – Honor with a concentration in Psychology. She was Magna Cum Laude with a G.P.A. of 3.859. In May of 2014 she graduated from FAU Graduate College with a M. A. and a concentration in Personality and Social Psychology. She had a 3.51 G.P.A.

She was on the President’s or Dean’s list for almost all of the semesters that she attended.
She also received numerous honors and Scholarships that can’t fit in the allotted space.

Candace’s brilliant writings will hopefully not lay dormant since her time with us was exceptionally short.
Rest In Painless existence until your Daddyo, Mamma, Bro. You’re going to have to wait for Babyman because he has much to accomplish before you two become reacquainted. Peace Out My Baby Girl.
