Mr. Smith was born in Cairo, GA and moved to Fort Pierce, FL in 1958, coming from Georgia.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. A service manager for Sears and Roebuck for 33 years, Carey could fix or work on just about anything from video games to appliances. He enjoyed helping others and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Catherine Smith (husband William) of Kentucky and Cynthia M. Liss (husband David) of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Stephan VanDeventer of Ft. Pierce, Cheyenne M. Cruz of Kentucky and Brandon M. Liss of Vero Beach; great-grandchild, Lance R. VanDeventer of Ft. Pierce; sister, Mary Perkins (husband Melvin) of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
