Carol Suzanne (Best) Spaw

Carol Suzanne (Best) Spaw, born on April 26th, 1959 in Sandusky, Ohio, touched the lives of many before her unexpected passing on December 14th, 2023 at her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

She was a loving mother to her only child, daughter Jordan Burkley (Andy), and dedicated wife of 37 years to her husband, Jeff Spaw.  Carol cherished her two granddaughters, Harper Koa and Haven Reign, more than life itself. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Anna Best.

Carol attended Perkins High School, Bowling Green State University and obtained her Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University. Carol was a speech and language pathologist, who had such a passion for helping children. She was employed by both Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties throughout her 42 year career.

Carol was devoted to helping others, especially children and those in need. Her caring nature extended way beyond her family and friends, and her generosity of her time and talent was boundless.

She will be fondly remembered as a strong woman with a huge heart, who was not afraid to speak her mind.

Carol is also survived by her sister, Karen McGuire (Steve), her niece, Stephanie Patterson (and family), her nephew, Matt McGuire (and family), and in-laws, Bill and Alberta Spaw.  

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
