PORT SAINT LUCIE

Carol Hutchison Wyatt, a beloved figure in journalism, passed away peacefully at Tradition Hospital on Tuesday night. Born in Indiana, Hutch carried with her the Hoosier Can Do Sprit, always embodying a “can-do” attitude. Fluent in all of the Romance languages, Carol skillfully used them throughout her distinguished career, notably during her coverage of the 1984 Olympics.

Her passion for journalism was matched by her husband, Greg, with whom she shared a life full of adventure and success. After marrying in Carmel, California in 1993, Carol and Greg's professional journey took them to various corners of the country. Carol anchored at KCST in San Diego, where the station's "little engine that could" spirit thrived under a dynamic news team. Meanwhile, Greg relocated to start ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. Carol soon moved to WBZ-TV in Boston, further advancing her career before heading to Los Angeles, where KNBC recognized her talent, earning her multiple Emmy nominations.

In 1992, the couple’s perspective on TV news changed as they relocated to Florida, where they discovered WPSL Radio. Over the next 32 years, Carol and Greg became deeply embedded in the Treasure Coast community. Carol was especially dedicated to the WPSL Christmas Kids program, serving as its president for more than two decades.

Carol's impact on those around her was profound, and she will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and exceptional work in journalism.

She is survived by her loving husband, Greg, and their many friends and colleagues who were touched by her remarkable spirit. Rest in peace, Hutch.
