Caroline Haid

Caroline Haid, 95, passed away peacefully on 9/22/10 at the Balmy Beach Retirement Home in Apopka FL.

She was born Caroline Leffler, daughter of Thomas Leffler and Edna Gille Leffler in 1915 in Zanesville, Ohio, and married Albert Earl Haid in 1940, prior to his serving in the Navy. They moved with their two daughters, Carol and Janet, to Fort Pierce FL in 1952. Caroline was an accomplished seamstress, who sewed hundreds of beautiful, original costumes each year for the annual recitals of her daughter Carol’s many dance and piano students. She also sewed elaborate marching band outfits for her daughter Janet when she was a twirlette at Dan McCarty High in Fort Pierce during the 1960’s. Her husband (1989) and daughter Carol (1996) have preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Janet Higgins of Longwood FL; granddaughters Shana Hales of Orlando FL and Katie Williams of Deltona FL; great-grandchildren Caroline and Jacob Hales; great-grandson-to-be Parker Williams; and foster daughter Patricia Graf of Hyde Park NY.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org .

She will be sadly missed and long remembered.

Services will be held in the chapel of the Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce on Thursday September 30, 2010, at 3pm.
