 Carolyn Madron Asmussen

Carolyn Madron Asmussen (82) went to be home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ unexpectedly in the early hours of June 13th. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Carolyn was born on 12-28-1941 in Mountain City, Tennessee to Paul Eve and Mary Lee Madron. She had two sisters: Shirley, and Joy and a half sister, Hilda. She also had a cousin, Nancy, who was like another sister to her. They later moved to Boone, North Carolina where she grew up seven miles out in the country on a farm. She described her years on the farm as wonderful and looked back at many fond memories which were made there. She recalls details of their farm house which had beautiful hardwood floors, hand-braided rugs, and antique furniture. She loved living there. They had a barn, a smokehouse, a corncrib, and even a post office because her granddaddy was the postmaster. She remembered fondly swimming in the creek, climbing mountains, and picking cherries, wild strawberries and blackberries. She recalls cracking walnuts in the barn loft, jumping on the feed sacks in her uncle's store, and playing with her cousins and their chickens. What fun times she had!

She was married in 1963 to Jimmy Kicliter and had two daughters: Sandra Marie and Deborah Ann, who were her pride and joy. She described it as a beautiful wedding. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and raising her daughters. When her daughters were older, she took the opportunity to go back to school and become an educator and later a guidance counselor. She earned a BS in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She also had a certificate in administration and supervision. She retired from St. Lucie County School District as a guidance counselor.

If you had asked Carolyn of the most important thing in her life, she would say her relationship with Jesus, followed by her children and grandchildren. It was extremely important to her to be sure her children and grandchildren were all saved and had a relationship with Jesus, her Lord. She frequently shared her faith with others and shared the love of Jesus with all she knew. She loved to laugh and loved to spend time with her many friends.

Her parting advice for everyone: “All things work for good for those who love the Lord. Stay in the Word of God because that is how you can know him and love him with all of your heart. His word is how He speaks to you. Rise every morning early when there is no one else around and meet with your God in quietness and privacy. Listen to Him. He will guide your every step. Always praise him first before asking Him for things. Also ask for consideration for others, even those you may not like. If someone has done you wrong, then pray for them and ask God to do something wonderful for them each day. Be sure to let God know that in your heart, you are forgiving that person, so that you, too, will be forgiven. Pray diligently for salvation for those who God places on your heart, so they, too, may know the fullness of God’s love. Lastly, live a Christian life where you can be an example to others.”

Carolyn had many wonderful hobbies and talents. She enjoyed teaching others. She loved music, singing, sewing, quilting, embroidery, and painting. She enjoyed staying active. In her younger years she played basketball, tennis and she was an avid runner. She loved the water, boating and fishing. One of her favorite things was to read her Bible and spend time with her daughters and grandchildren teaching them about God, Jesus, and how to live their lives well. She also recommended that they play, play, and play some more!

She is survived by her two daughters: Sandra Marie Kicliter Inman and Deborah Ann Kicliter Kelley; four grandchildren: Joshua Stephen Inman, John Daniel Inman, Graham Kicliter Kelley, and Grace Madron Kicliter Kelley.
