Catherine L. Rights Browning, 60, of Fort Pierce, passed away in her sleep March 5, 2017.
She attended St. Lucie County schools and graduated Magna Cum Laude with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Deaf and Elementary Education from Flagler College.
She taught both deaf and Elementary Education in the St. Lucie County school system and after the birth of her son, Brett Browning, Jr., became a stay at home mom. She was Past President of the St. Lucie Historical Society and was active on the Board at Heathcote Botanical Gardens.
Her passions included her family, boating and fishing in the Bahamas, history, archaeology, tennis and gardening. She maintained a beautiful yard featuring exotic tropical plants and a Koi pond at her home on North Hutchinson Island and a butterfly garden at her home in Polk County, Florida. Captain of the Play It Forward tennis team at Buttonwood Tennis Club, she could be found on the court three days a week.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 29 years, Brett W. Browning; son, Brett W. Browning, Jr.; mother, Lucille Rights of Stuart; sisters, Julia Rights of Arcadia and Roberta Murray (Michael) of Jensen Beach; nieces, Aubrey Murray of Philadelphia, PA, Celine Browning of Chicago, IL, Rachel Browning of New York, NY and nephew, David Browning of Lafayette, IN.
