Charles Devereux, (Charlie) 74, died July 30, 2016 while driving his beloved ’67 Chevy Impala convertible.
He was an Army Veteran, who served in Germany and Vietnam. An ASU graduate and bonafide maniac, his talents and interests were multiple and varied-secondary school teacher and principal, home and marine construction, fisherman and lobsterman, tow truck driver and handyman, mechanic and contractor. He loved driving fast, racing cars, telling stories and jokes, building things, science fiction, sailing, mud-bogging, Elvis Presley and Les Paul, Poe and DeMauppasant, cribbage and pinochle. He loved life and urged others to do what made them happy. He loved to spoil grandkids and help his family.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan; his step-mother Jean; his wonderful sisters, Audrey (Berwyn), Andie, and Lanie (Larry) and their families. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, John (Joanne) and their family. He is survived by his four amazing children, Merle, Brian (Angie), Michele (Sami) and Elizabeth, and seven special grandchildren; Kyle, Kera, Kaitlyn, Brianna, Alexis, Cheyenne and Delphine.
Celebrate by having a drink and reminisce by sharing a favorite story about him.
