Charles "Charlie" Robbins

September 21, 1946 — May 2, 2023

Vero Beach

Charles “Charlie” Robbins, passed away peacefully, in his home in Vero Beach, FL, on Tuesday, May 2nd, with his family by his side.

Charles was born on September 21, 1946 in Knoxville, TN, where he lived for 74 years, before moving down to FL 2 years ago, to be closer to his favorite grandson.

Charles is Survived by his daughter, Carrie Chalmers, son-in-law, James Chalmers, and grandson, Callan Chalmers, all of Fort Pierce, FL; and daughter, Andrea Robbins of Grovetown, GA.

If you knew Charlie, you knew of his love for good ole Southern Gospel Music, collecting recipes and cooking, and his grandson, Callan.  He would take any opportunity he could to attend a gospel concert, listen to a CD of Ivan Parker, or have you sit and watch a Gaither video with him.  And food, he loved food.  He’d always show up with a stack of recipes, or constantly send you a recipe he’d found and wanted to try.  He was known for cooking and sharing food with family and neighbors.  You could hardly escape his presence without being shown a picture or 10 of his favorite grandson, Callan.  He was so proud to be Papaw and that was his entire reasoning behind moving to Florida, to be closer to him, Carrie & Jim.

Charles was active in the funeral industry for over 60 years in Knoxville.  From selling advertising to ending his career owning a transport business, he had a huge family of Funeral Service members who have valued his commitment and friendship for decades.

If you are so inclined to send flowers, the family requests that you send a simple phalaenopsis orchid. When asked by his daughter, Carrie, if there was any place that he would have liked to have traveled, Charles said, Cabo Rio (their RV Resort they are currently developing). Carrie would like to attach the orchids to trees throughout the resort property, so Charlie can be there!

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at White City Cemetery, Fort Pierce.
