Charles W. Greer, 92, passed away January 3, 2010, after a brief illness. He was born August 30, 1918, in Covington, Kentucky, but lived most of his life in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He served his country in WW II in the Navy. He was a captain in the Cincinnati Police Force and earned a law degree at Chase Law School and a masters degree at Xavier University while serving with the Cincinnati Police Department. He was personal bodyguard to Bob Hope while in Cincinnati. He was security manager for Hobart Manufacturing in Troy, Ohio. Later, he was city manager of Hillsdale, Michigan, retiring after 10 years. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner in the Grand Lodge of Harrison, Ohio. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Spanish Lakes Fairways Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Joanne Lanney Greer; a daughter, Janeen Condorodis and husband John of Cincinnati, OH; a son Jeffrey and wife Debborah Greer of Euless, TX; a grandson Austin of Euless, TX; a sister Joan Hay of Everett, Washington; stepchildren, Rebecca and Michael Ely of Pelham, NH; Brenda Klepacki of Hadley, MA.; Lisa Adams of Chesapeake, VA.; Gregg Lanney of Bradenton, FL.; Susan Murray of Boyertown, PA.; 12 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wives Pauline Hatfield Greer and Jenny Miller Greer and a brother Donald Greer.
