Cheryl Ann Carothers Holman, 69, died January 31,2025 in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. 

Mrs.Carothers Holman was born on February 21,1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Walter and Marie Carothers, Sr. She moved to Port Saint Lucie, Fl in 2012 from Clayton, North Carolina. Cheryl and her late brother Walter, Jr. grew up in the Cape May, NJ area. Cheryl graduated from Lower Cape May Regional High School in 1973. While in high school she was one of two young ladies chosen for a mentorship program and to work at New Jersey Power and Light, where she learned type writing and secretarial duties. Cheryl worked office admin and customer service, including many years working at Martin County Utilities, until retirement in 2012 from Johnson County Public Utilities in Clayton, NC. Cheryl's passion had always been animals. Cheryl enjoyed raising and rescuing dachshunds through the years. She loved spending her last days with her faithful dachshund, Ginger. Cheryl volunteered and worked at the Treasure Coast Wildlife Center from 2012 to 2020, where Cheryl fostered and rehabbed opossum orphan babies, occasionally giving forever homes to opossums that could not be released back to the wild. Cheryl gained many friendships throughout the wildlife rehab communities. Cheryl's other hobbies and passions included her love for music by Jimmy Buffet, Snoopy and the Peanuts, days at the beach, White Zinfandel Wine, decorating for the holidays, taste for fine jewelry, early morning quiet time, backyard bird and squirrel watching on the back porch, pastime on social media and weekly pampering herself.

Cheryl and her surviving husband, John, first met while they both worked for Martin County Utilities in Stuart, Fl during the late 1990's to early 2000's. They began dating long distance in 2012 and were engaged shortly thereafter. Cheryl then moved from Clayton, North Carolina to Port Saint Lucie, FL. Cheryl and John enjoyed many happy years together of social events, trips to the beach and travel. Cheryl and John were married in a private union with friends at home on November 17, 2023. 

Cheryl decided to accept Jesus Christ as Lord on July 13, 2006 while living in North Carolina. 

Cheryl is survived by her husband, John Holman Sr. of Port Saint Lucie; stepchildren - John Holman Jr. and spouse Karen Holman of Lake Wales, Fl., Susann Purificato and spouse Anthony Purificato, III of Port Saint Lucie, Fl, Christopher Holman and spouse Marisol Holman of Lakeland, Fl; grandchildren - Geoffrey West and spouse Chloe West, Zacharey Holman, Trey Holman, Victoria Purificato, Kobe Zentgraf, Ana Zengraf, and Thomas Kinslow, III; in-laws - Keith Holman and spouse Gail Holman of Palm City, Fl, Debra Darrah of Stuart, Fl; nieces and nephew - Stacy Whaley and spouse Allen Whaley of Laurel, DE, Eddie Darrah of Stuart, Fl, Lisa Darrah of Philadelphia, Penn, David Holman and spouse Brittny Holman of Port Saint Lucie, Fl; grand-nieces and grand-nephew.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, father Walter Carothers Sr. and mother Marie Martinka Cosentino, brother Walter Carothers Jr., aunt Eleanor Martinka, and stepdaughter AnDrea Holman Kinslow.
