Chester Lee Sams
Chester Lee Sams, 82, died December 2, 2014 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Chester was born in Steuben County, Indiana on December 21, 1931 and grew up in Southern Michigan and moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida with his family in 1967. In 1998, he and Shirley moved to Fannin County, Georgia where he helped build their retirement home and later returned to reside in Fort Pierce, Florida.
He worked for Bellsouth Telephone Company for 30 years. He later engineered for companies laying long distance cable. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was affiliated with the Masonic Order for over 50 years, active in the Amara Shrine Center of West Palm Beach, St. Lucie Shrine Club since 1981 and a member of the Royal Order of Jester Court 179.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley Joan Sams; children, Gary (Diane) Sams, Sr., Roland (Laura Kay) Sams, Alan (Gretchen) Sams, and Leanne (Jonathan) Locklear; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
