Christian Durst Genkinger (June 6th, 1966-February 5th, 2025) was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Chris is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jennifer; their two children, Jacob & Julia; his sister Lori Genkinger-Fink, her husband, Glenn Fink, and their two children, Shelbye & Hallye; and his brother Jason Gonzales, his wife, Summer Gonzales, and their two children, Troy & Gabriella.
Chris was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and raised by his father Don Genkinger, mother Suzanne Durst Gonzales, and stepfather Anthony Gonzales. He spent most of his childhood and early adult years in Coral Springs, Florida, where he learned & worked in many trades, including boat maintenance, wallpaper installation, auto mechanics, and aerospace assembly. He managed multiple business endeavors throughout his teenage and adult years. Most notably, his lawn company, Chris’s Lawn Service, proudly served the Treasure Coast for 30 years.
Chris was an innovative thinker and always loved the challenge of fixing new things. He had a reputation as the “fix it” man, repairing & restoring old equipment, motors, and vehicles throughout his life.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and listening to live southern rock music every weekend with his wife and friends. Chris lived life to the fullest, made each day count, and touched many lives along the way. He made everyone laugh every single day of his entire life.
His tenacious attitude made him admirable. Chris was our walking miracle. He cherished every moment with his family and friends and never took a day for granted.
Chris always believed his best accomplishment in life was raising his two wonderful kids, of whom he is very proud. He loved his wife, Jennifer, more than anything, and always put his family first above all else.
His celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 23rd at 1pm at Causeway Cove Marina in Fort Pierce, FL. 601 Seaway Dr. Fort Pierce, FL 34949.
