Clare (Benton) Morin of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Torrington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on her 85th birthday, August 24, 2023 in Fort Pierce, Florida, with her loving family by her side.
Clare was born on August 24, 1938 in Torrington, CT to Seth Benton and Clare (Brennan) Benton. Clare married her sweetheart, Raymond Morin in their hometown of Torrington, CT on September 26, 1959. Clare graduated from Torrington High School after attending St. Francis Elementary School.
Clare was a devoted member of St. Lucie Catholic Church. Clare was a devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother. When she was not taking care of her family, she loved hosting card parties and playing Rummikub with her friends. Her favorite ways to pass alone time were reading and doing crossword puzzles. Clare was a loyal fan of UCONN Women’s basketball, as well.
Clare will be deeply missed by her loving family, husband of 63 years, Raymond E. Morin of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Gail M. Vedovelli & Tullio L. Vedovelli of Torrington, CT and son, Raymond E. Morin, Jr., & Lise R. Morin of Ayden, NC; grandson and family, Nick Garrett, Larisa Garrett and Leo Garrett of Lennox, MA. She will be remembered lovingly by her sisters, Mary (Benton) Gemmell of Kissimmee, FL (husband, Lawrence Gemmell) and Margery (Benton) Gaudreau of Farmington, CT (husband Roland Gaudreau) as well as her numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Clare was predeceased by her parents, Seth Benton and Clare (Brennan) Benton; brothers and their spouses, Seth F. Benton and Lydia Benton, and Walter J. Benton and Gwen Benton.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lucie Catholic Church, 290 NW Prima Vista Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL, 34983. The service will be live-streamed under “Live Video” at stlucie.cc.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main Street, Torrington, CT, on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 South Main Street, Torrington, CT, following the Mass.
