Connie Gattuso, 99, died March 16, 2018 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Connie was born in New York City, New York. Even though she was a big city girl, she embraced the country life, living summers with her husband, Charles, in a tent while their house on Long Island was being built.
She was a long time resident of the Savanna Club in Port St Lucie, relocating to Florida in 1988. She loved to dance. In addition to being a proficient ballroom dancer, she was part of the ‘Footnotes’ dance group and performed at various events as well as many visits to local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She loved to fascinate her grandchildren with stories about her youth in New York City. Even into her 90’s she brought these stories alive with almost photographic memory.
Survivors include her daughter Sister Marie Antoinette of Clarisses de Troyes in Troyes, France; son Peter (Lorraine) Gattuso of Warrenton, Virginia; daughter Tina-Marie (Mark) Gallagher of Fort Pierce, Florida; grandchildren Adam Gattuso, Matthew Gattuso and Julia Gattuso. In addition, survivors include two sisters; Anita (Joe) DeGirolamo and Mary Campisi, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two foster children Margaret (Peggy) Stroup and Grace Quenzer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carmine (Charles) Gattuso, her parents Concetta and Domenico Grammauta, sisters Florence and Frances and brothers Mario and Stephen Grammauta.
Services: A mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic church in Port St Lucie on Friday
