Connie McDermott passed away peacefully on June 20th 2023 in Port Saint Lucie, FL. She was born on Jan 3, 1933 as Constance Pothier Winthrop, MA.

She married William McDermott on Dec 23, 1955 until his passing on August 28, 1981. She attended Saugus High School in Saugus MA.

She was a strong advocate for women and children and was a volunteer in the early years for the Lynn Family Planning Clinic. She fought tirelessly for the protection of Lynn Woods.

She loved her family dearly. She lived with her daughter Kathleen and her husband Bob for the years following her husband’s death. She was grateful to Kathleen and Bob for providing a loving home for her. She was so proud of her extended family and their accomplishments. The rest of her children are grateful for the care their sister Kathleen and her husband Bob provided her for decades.

Connie was an avid lover of music, dance and Disney. She often spoke about how the Grande’s had taken her to Disney over 100 times. She was known to many as Ma McDermott and was well loved. Against many obstacles she led a well-lived life.

Connie survived by her beloved beloved family including, son Kevin McDermott and wife Sharon of Union, ME; granddaughter Jessica McDermott husband Curtis Kroker, children Caitlin and Finn of Mill Valley, CA, grandson Kevin McDermott of Biddeford ME, grandson Ryan McDermott wife Grace, children May and Bruce of Camden, ME; daughter Theresa McDermott White and husband Don of Merrimac, MA grandson Lawren White wife Megan, children Elden, Arden and Fionnuala of Danvers, MA, granddaughter Ariel Matthews husband Michael, son Elijah of Merrimac, MA; son Richard McDermott of Port Saint Lucie, grandson Sean McDermott wife Marie, daughter Aaliyah, grandson Logan McDermott of Port St Lucie, FL and their mother Marie McDermott; son Mark McDermott and wife Bonnie of Port Saint Lucie, FL, granddaughter Melissa Bostwick, children Racquel and Matthew of Fort Pierce, FL, granddaughter Katie McDermott, children Liam, Lillian and Marshall of Vero Beach, Fl, grandson Conor McDermott of Port Saint Lucie, FL; daughter Kathleen McDermott Grande and husband Robert (Bob) of Fort Pierce, grandson Anthony Grande of Tokyo, Japan, grandson Dominic Grande of Los Angeles, CA, grandson Nicolas Grande of Fort Pierce, FL. She will be greatly missed by her sister Bernadette Keaney-Dudash and husband Denny, sister-in-law Pauline Pothier, brother-in-law Kevin McDermott and his wife Doreen, brother-in-law George O’Brian, friends of family Kay Lewis, Vicky Hoey, Kathleen Collins, Nancy Healy, Den Otero and Michelle Crespo. She also leaves 18 nieces and nephews along with many friends of her 5 children.

She was predeceased by husband, the love of her life William James McDermott, parents Telesphore and Alta Pothier, brother Donald Pothier, sister Gloria Jeanne Bautista, brother-in-law Dave Keaney, Andrew McDermott, niece Reneé Pothier, father-in-law Andrew McDermott, mother-in-law Bridgette O’Brian, daughter from another-mother Cynthia Burnett.
