Craig Steven Sterling, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather passed away on January 15, 2023 in his home in Port St Lucie, FL surrounded by loved ones after a lengthy, valiant battle with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was 74.
Craig was born on August 27, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland to Shirley (Hickey) Sterling and William Wayne Sterling.
He leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann (Aylward) Sterling as well as: His son, Matthew and daughter Katie Sterling and daughter and son-in-law Dr Nicole (Basil) Sterling and Joseph Dasilva, respectively. He also leaves his grandchildren: Matthew (Gabby), Tyler, Reed, Tate and Sophia and great grandchildren: Finn, Maddex, Julien and brother Wayne (Christine) and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Craig was predeceased by several sibling in-laws.
Craig was incredibly proud of his children and was a true family man whom greatly enjoyed spending time with them, especially on Sunday Fundays with a good cigar, tunes and a glass of scotch.
When not enjoying time with his family, he was often shining whichever latest performance car he had in the garage and enjoyed a spirited 0-60 mph run.
If not enjoying his time with a scotch or a car, he was forever working on projects around the house like adding a garage, deck, bathroom, etc. He was a perfectionist in all he did and surely wasted no time being productive as his brain would allow him to be anything but.
Before moving to Port St Lucie, FL, Craig lived in Maryland and worked for the Federal government with Homeland Security Department which he retired from after 37 years as a Senior Project Manager. He was a true civil servant having also served Maryland National Guard in 1967 through 1969 and joined the U.S. Army Reserve from 1969 to 1979 as a training NCO. He was immensely proud of the award he won for his work with 9/11.
A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1PM to 4Pm with a Memorial Service to be conducted at 2PM at the Haisley Funeral Service Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34984.
