Daniel C. “Dan” Nippes, 71, died December 13, 2016 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Dan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Fort Pierce in 1974.
Dan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees and received a Masters of Education degree from the University of Southern California. He was a distinguished Alumni of the University of Pittsburgh and served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 40 years with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Director of the Indian River Crime Laboratory. He was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pitt Panthers and was a great father and loving husband.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce Nippes of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Kristin (Bobby) Shaw of Bigfork, MT; sons, Jeff (Miranda) Nippes of Riverview, FL and Ryan Nippes of Fort Pierce, FL; brother, Tim (Mary) Nippes of Lancaster, PA; sister, Teena (Dennis) Sherwood of Columbia, MD; brother, Jeff (Nancy) Nippes of Rogersville, MO; sister-in-law, Shelly Nippes of Homer City, PA; grandchildren, Brennen, Ryan and Landon Shaw and beloved dog, Snickers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Ruth Nippes and brother, Michael Nippes.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the St. Lucie County Humane Society, P. O. Box 14199, Fort Pierce, FL 34979 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
Services: A service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Indian River Presbyterian Church, 2499 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce.
