Daniel James Silvis, Jr. 93, entered into the house of his Lord October 31, 2015 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Silvis was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to the late Daniel James and Fannie Devey Silvis on April 25, 1922. He met his future wife, Zelda McKelvey, at Greensburg High School and they attended many youth functions together as members of the First Lutheran Church of Greensburg.

His college education was interrupted when he joined the Army Air Corp during WWII. He piloted a B-24 as part of the 765th Squadron serving in Italy and North Africa. After his graduation from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1947, he and his wife moved to Connecticut where he started his career as a mechanical engineer with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Career changes relocated them over the years to Cincinnati, OH, Lake Park, FL and back to West Hartford, CT. He ended his working career as a supervisor of a Florida Progress power distribution plant in Intercession City, FL.

Church, education and the activities of their five children and then fifteen grandchildren kept them busy over their 63 years of marriage. Dan became a resident of Fort Pierce in 1993 where he became involved in his great grandchildren’s activities.
