Danny Edward Adkins, 70, went home to Jesus March 29, 2021 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Danny was born in Gallipolis, Ohio and moved to Fort Pierce in 1964.

Danny married his high school sweetheart Cheryl in 1969 and they remained married for 52 years. Danny was a firefighter/EMT for the St. Lucie County Fire Department from 1972 to 1979. After his time with the fire department Danny became a partner in Dale’s BBQ West in 1979, eventually purchasing the restaurant in 1981. The Adkins Family rebranded Dales West to become Moonswiners Bar-B-Q in 2014 and Danny hasn’t taken his Moonswiners hat off since.

In addition to being a loving Dad and Pa who cherished time with his wife, children, and grandchildren Danny also loved stockcar racing, NASCAR, trips to Disney world, travel, hunting, and baseball games. Danny also made many friends throughout his life who will all miss him dearly.

Danny joins his parents Bob and Lorraine Adkins and his brother Donald Adkins in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl C. Adkins of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Dea Adkins (Jon) Horowitz of Fort Pierce, FL; son, Danny E. (Tia) Adkins II of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Darrell (Maria) Adkins of Clayton, GA and Steven (Kathy) Adkins of Live Oak, FL; sister, Debbie (Michael) Brunen of Clayton, GA; and grandchildren, Austin Creel, Abigail Adkins, and Drake Adkins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Adkins.

Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, FL.
