David S. Ard never knew a stranger. His laughter and joy was contagious. If you knew David, you had a friend.
David valiantly fought back brain cancer with that same positive and faith-filled energy- giving us an extra 19 months to enjoy life with him.
David was a lifelong resident of Ft. Pierce, graduated from Westwood High School, and followed in his father’s footsteps to become a drafting engineer with St. Lucie County. He loved serving his community in this role for 43 years.
David cherished life, especially the outdoors, which was reflected in his many hobbies. With restoring cars (especially Volkswagens) he combined a love of cars with his skills, even engineering his own parts. As an outdoorsman he enjoyed God’s wonderous creations, hunting and scuba diving.
He and his wife of 33 years, Donna Ivey Ard, hosted many parties in their backyard paradise. He adored her till his last breath.
A lifelong member of Community United Methodist Church, his fingerprints can be seen all over. One of his last acts of service was the hanging of the outdoor lights that everyone who passes by now enjoys.
David loved Jesus with all his heart and wanted everyone to know his joy and love came from that personal relationship.
We will celebrate his larger-than-life life at a memorial service on April 27, 2024 at Community United Methodist church at 3:00 PM, with reception following. Please wear bright colors to honor David’s bright life.
