David Dennis Johnson

July 18, 1941 — January 10, 2014

David Dennis Johnson, July 18, 1941 – January 10, 2014, of Satellite Beach, FL. After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, Dave passed away peacefully with family at his home. Dave was born in Warwick, Rhode Island and lived in Okinawa, Scotland, Iran, Massachusetts and Virginia, before ultimately settling down in Florida. Dave also faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force in Asia and Europe.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Clare Spence Johnson, his daughters Kim (Steve Jamison) and Lisa (Howard Ehrsam) and son David (Nicole Johnson) and his 9 wonderful grandchildren: Sean, Erin and Kerry Jamison; Cole, Kate and Camden Ehrsam; Logan, Corey and Hallie Johnson and countless other friends and family that were fortunate enough to know him.

Dave retired from Hewlett Packard after a long and successful career as a sales director and business executive. Dave also had a passion for learning and earned an MBA as well as a Master’s Degree in Education. His love of teaching inspired him to become an Adjunct Professor for FIT’s graduate program and also the University of Maryland’s overseas educational program in Germany.

Dave loved to sail, run and most of all, travel around the world. He visited all 50 states and over 50 countries including China, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Israel, Turkey, most of South America & Europe and of course his beloved Scotland where he met Clare in 1963. Dave had a desire to explore the world and his family is eternally grateful for the experiences he provided us.

Dave touched more lives than can be imagined. He was always quick with a smile and a great story that would have everyone laughing. David had a combination of intelligence, patience and work ethic that charted a course through life that we all strive to replicate with our families.

Even with his passing, as an organ donor volunteer, Dave’s legacy of seeking knowledge and generous spirit continues. We honored his wishes by donating his organs to Alzheimer’s research to try and help cure this devastating disease. We would also like to thank Clare (Mom) for her heroic efforts single handedly supporting Dad for the last 8 years, and also the Treasure Coast Hospice team of professionals who provided wonderful care to David during his final days. In lieu of any flowers or items for the family, we would truly appreciate charitable donations in his memory. Please consider the following very worthy options: Cure Alzheimer’s Fund
