Mr. David Bigelow Melville, 97, of Ft. Pierce, FL passed away peacefully June 22, 2023 at his home. David was born December 19, 1925 in Setauket, NY to Ward and Dorothy Melville.
David served in the Merchant Marines on oil tankers during the war and finished his WWII service in the Coast Guard. Upon his return stateside, after WWII, he joined the Family business, and served as Treasurer for Thom Mcan Shoe Corp. He moved to Rum Key of the Bahamas in the 70s, and spent 30 years there where he owned and operated diving camp and hotel. In the early 2000s, he moved to Florida and co-founded Ocean Solution inc.
David was an avid equestrian and tennis player most of his life. He loved the sea and the many places he visited during his time in the Merchant Marines and Coast Guard. He was a historian and a student of government. He maintained a large library of books on these subjects. Dave was a very generous philanthropist who operated a foundation that funded several Christian Colleges, missionary outreaches, and charities. David left a major impact on the lives of his church family of Northside Worship Center Fort Pierce and was considered grandpa by most of the congregation.
He will be laid to rest with his family in Setauket, NY at a later date.
