David Michael Reid
09/30/1944 - 09/03/2020
Dave Reid’s innate optimism & love for storytelling, knew no limit. Though his 75 years was far too short a time on this Earth, Dave embraced every moment so fully & lived with vigor through his love for humans, nature and animals alike. Born in Detroit, Michigan on September 30, 1944 to Robert & Gloria Reid as the oldest of four children, Dave’s love for travel began young as the family moved coast-to-coast from Key Biscayne to Marin County, California. While living in Fort Lauderdale in his 20s, Dave decided to turn his love for adventure into a career and became a pilot, spending 40 years in the aviation industry before retiring in 2013. Though he loved to travel, he spent most of his time and much of the last decade of his life on Scotland Cay in the Abacos-his favorite place in the world, where he shared countless memories with his four sons. A loving father and friend to many, no one was a stranger to Dave. He left behind a legacy when he passed away in Fort Pierce on September 3rd, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was laid to rest on September 10, 2020 at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery in Florida.
Dave is survived by his three siblings Diane, Brian and Taylor; previous wife Stephanie Reid; four sons Jarvy Reid, Scotland Dean Reid, Benjamin Reid and Alexander Reid; daughters-in-law Christyna Turner & Rebeca Reid, and grandchildren Sophia Reid, Isabelle Reid, Eden Reid and Gabriel Reid.
A favorite line of Dave's from Albert Einstein: "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
